Brisk 5 minute warm up walk. Then alternate 90 seconds of jogging for two minutes of walking for a total of 20 minutes.
I was really excited to get out on my run today. I finally feel like I'm getting into a runners mindset. When I first started running again, I knew it was something that I had to do but didn't really want to. I wasn't excited about it. It all changed yesterday when I went for my bike ride and flew down the hills with a big smile on my face.
I headed to Western Springs for the run. The run was the perfect mixture of challenging and enjoyment. The first few sets were easy but as the run got on, I started finding it difficult. This is when the lazy part of me started saying "You can stop now, it doesn't matter" but I really wanted to finish the run. I knew I would be dissapointed in myself if I didn't finish the run. I have given up so many times before and I really didn't want to do that again. So even though I felt like I was going to be sick, I kept going and finished it! WOOT! I am so happy with myself.
So tonight I will do my other exercises (stretches, push ups and crunches) and tomorrow will be a rest day since my muscles need a break.
I LOVE RUNNING.

Congratulations! Way to push past that negative voice inside you. I promise you it will get easier.
Thanks Lisa! I really appreciate it :)
Great job, thanks for stopping by my blog, I'll add you to my reading list!
Good for you! It can be tough to push your way through a workout, and all runners --- no matter how experienced --- face that challenge occasionally. In fact, I'm kind of dealing with it myself today. So you're not alone! Keep up the good work.
Way to go, Katie! AWESOME JOB :) It's so hard to push through sometimes, but as Lisa says, it WILL get easier! Granted, when it does, you'll still have those runs that totally kick your a$$, but you'll also have the perfect, almost effortless runs that make the sport so darn addicting! Keep up the great work!
Thanks everyone! You guys rock :)
